Mr Smith remained silent trying to assimilate the fact that his house had become overnight the place where decisions would be made whose importance would go far beyond anyone's imagination.

 – Vaya, esto prácticamente se ha convertido en una cuestión de estado, Archibald – dijo el vicecónsul empezando a ponerse nervioso.

– Lo que está claro es que ha sido todo un acierto dejar en manos de nuestra querida Mrs Smith la organización de este evento. Está visto que se crece ante las dificultades y que hace que las cosas complicadas parezcan simples ¿no es verdad, cariño? – dijo Claire dirigiéndose a su marido.

– Por supuesto, nuestra querida amiga tiene unas habilidades sociales y un sentido de la serendipia absolutamente admirables. Sería un desperdicio no aprovechar esos dones con los que la Naturaleza la ha dotado.

Mr Smith permanecía en silencio intentando asimilar el hecho de que su casa se había convertido de la noche a la mañana en el lugar donde se tomarían decisiones cuya trascendencia traspasaría con mucho la imaginación de cualquiera.
