UN CUMPLEAÑOS MUY FELIZ - A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY

 

Y mientras, la organización de la fiesta sorpresa de cumpleaños de Claire seguía adelante. Aída y Lorraine, las hermanas de Mrs Smith, venían con asiduidad de Gibraltar a Algeciras con la excusa de acompañar a sus sobrinos de la escuela, pero el verdadero motivo eran los ensayos en el hotel Reina Cristina con Monsieur Carré, el periodista francés, madame Du Gast y la propia Mrs Smith, quien también se animó a interpretar alguna pieza. Los ensayos eran épicos, todo un duelo de divas, para regocijo de algún que otro embajador que incesantemente entraban y salían del hotel o paseaban por sus jardines. Mrs Smith siempre lograba zafarse de Claire contándole mil y una patrañas. Cuando llegó el ensayo general, el seis de febrero, Mrs Smith salió temprano de casa.
